Project Summary

Charlie began his journey in the self storage industry at the age of 18, working for a company that built self storage facilities across the UK. For many years, his role involved setting up sites, filling them to capacity, and selling them to pension funds. Although Charlie enjoyed the role, the long hours behind a desk, working nine-to-five, and often weekends, was not something he wanted to do forever.

With years of valuable experience and industry knowledge, Charlie made the bold decision to start his own self storage business. Despite the significant personal investment involved – including remortgaging his house and using his entire life savings – Charlie believed that the venture was worth the risk.

Charlie contacted Kuboid a year and a half before the intended fit-out start date. However, just before the scheduled delivery, the fit-out contractor unexpectedly went bankrupt, meaning the site wasn’t delivered on the day it was supposed to be, leaving Charlie in a difficult situation. He discovered through a local marketplace post that the contractor had stopped operations, leaving the project in limbo only a week before he was supposed to receive the keys.

Charlie was left in a difficult financial situation, and initial plans with Kuboid had to be put on hold. Both parties worked hard together when they were able to proceed, and Charlie was thankful for Kuboid’s patience and understanding. Charlie couldn’t be happier with his investment, and although it was a big risk, it’s been the best thing he’s ever done.
