Sutton Maddock Self Storage is allied to a vehicle rental and property business which originally occupied half the building. When the other half became vacant, directors Ben and Tom took on the whole 5,000 sq ft and explored the opportunity of launching an unmanned self storage facility. As this was their first step into self storage, they were keen to be guided throughout the whole process.

Originally an agricultural unit, we converted the building to deliver 46 units on the ground floor and a mezzanine with access stairs. We first carried out a site survey to ensure space optimisation, then managed all elements including planning permission, building control, design, manufacturing, construction and aftercare. Colours and branding tied in with the wider Sutton Maddock brand.

After opening for business in November 2021, the ground floor became 80 per cent let within just six months, half of the anticipated 12 months. This gave Sutton Maddock Self Storage the confidence to bring forward the second phase of 64 units on the upper floor much quicker than expected. The business is going so well they are now looking to open another facility with Kuboid as their delivery partner.
