Project Summary

Gatewick Farm Storage partnered with Kuboid to diversify its long-standing family farming operation into a scalable self storage facility in Steyning. With growing pressures on traditional agriculture, the fifth-generation business identified self storage as an opportunity to strengthen its income streams alongside its successful caravan and container storage operations. Early collaboration with Kuboid allowed the project to evolve from an initial concept into a refined, commercially viable design.

Kuboid worked closely with the client to redesign the facility layout when the original building footprint proved impractical, optimising the configuration to improve traffic flow, parking and accessibility. The team delivered a full internal fit-out, transforming an empty structure into a fully operational storage facility. This included the installation of swing and roller shutter doors, a mezzanine structure, integrated security systems, fire protection works and a complete electrical fit-out. This created a modern, secure environment ready to trade from day one.

The result is a successful phase-one launch that has already demonstrated strong local demand, supported by community-led marketing and the business’s existing customer base. With bookings secured within the first week of operation, the facility has quickly become a valuable addition to the wider farm operation. Designed with future expansion in mind, the project provides Gatewick Farm Storage with a scalable foundation for continued growth, demonstrating how diversification into self storage can provide long-term resilience for rural businesses.
