Project Summary
Luke Davis, former owner of an electrical contracting company, decided to change direction after years of working long hours and bought his first self storage facility in 2021. He fitted it out entirely by himself, a process that took 12 months and, while rewarding, proved a real challenge.
When planning his second facility in Plymouth, opening July 2025, Luke wanted a quicker, more efficient approach. He first met Kuboid at a self storage conference, where he struck up a strong relationship with Chris, Head of Sales and Marketing.
This time, Kuboid delivered the full fit out, including partitions, mesh, and doors, while Luke handled the electrics himself. The site transformation has been dramatic. Previously an eyesore surrounded by abandoned cars and standing empty for years, the building has now been revitalised as a modern self storage facility. Launch day was marked with a leaflet drop and a celebratory opening, where locals gathered for a glass of champagne.
StoreFort opened with 131 units, with phases two and three still to come. Luke has found the industry welcoming and collaborative, even building positive relationships with local competitors.
By partnering with Kuboid, Luke was able to reduce the time and effort required to complete the fit out, accelerate revenue generation, and scale his business with confidence. He is now fully enjoying his career in self storage, having successfully traded the long hours of his electrical contracting business for a growing entrepreneurial venture.
“Chris was really attentive, he listened to us, and we felt like we really mattered. It’s nice to know we’re not just a number, we’re important to Kuboid.”
